The West Virginia Health Care Authority agreed with Professor Gowrisankaran in this hospital merger review.
In its review of the merger of two local hospitals, the West Virginia Health Care Authority was “persuaded by the common sense opinions” of Professor Gautam Gowrisankaran of the University of Arizona.
The Authority approved the merger and extended state action immunity to the deal. The FTC subsequently dropped its challenge of the transaction.
